New climbing gym opens near Fontainebleau forest

Niet echt overtuigd of Fontainebleau wel zat te wachten op een (echte) klimzaal, maar goed, het ziet er deftig uit... lees verder

For those of you who have had previous concerns about booking a climbing trip to the area of Fontainebleau due to its rainy reputation, a new gym has opened in Buthiers as a peace offering. Bleau Up offers both sport climbing and bouldering and a full service fitness center will be opening in less than two months. The gym is located in Base de loisirs regionale de Buthiers, a park that offers other activities such as biking and swimming in the summer. The gym is 12 km from la Chapelle-la-Reine but the easiest way to find it is to just drive to and through the town of Buthiers. The wall is less than one minute from some of the best boulders Buthiers has to offer, including Partage, so even after a day of outdoor climbing you can head over for a nighttime training session.
The lead wall is retractable, making it a ceiling in the colder temperatures and a second pitch of sport climbing in the warmer weather. Its steepness is fully adjustable as well. The gym includes a lounging/dining area where members or guests can snack on a variety of treats and refreshments sold there.
The entire bouldering area is split between two sections, and each section has one thick, solid pad, which is great for landing and falling on. With walls of every angle and a sticky textured surface, there is a climbing style for everyone. Grades range from beginner/a tiny bit difficult (PD) to unusually difficult (ABO) like many other French gyms.
